Seeing an undergraduate student from the school of management of Jiangxi Agricultural University write a letter to the editor of China Youth Daily, he reflected that he was very confused in his undergraduate study. From some media, it is often seen that university managers and teachers complain that some students in today's universities are perfunctory and deal with things. I also personally saw that some freshmen were addicted to online games and often failed, losing the most basic learning concept of a college student. This shows that the phenomenon that undergraduates (even some postgraduates) lack passion for learning is universal. This will certainly reduce the quality of undergraduate education, waste national resources and affect the stability of students, their families and society. So how is this situation caused and how should we deal with it? These problems should be discussed by science net users, especially university managers and teachers. How should we arouse college students' learning enthusiasm, improve their interest in learning and life, and let them live a full, meaningful and fruitful life in the whole university.

I think of two things related to this. The first is that in 2004, I received a letter from a senior student in the Department of geology of the University of the Philippines, who asked me for a paper published in the AAPG bulletin that year. The letter said that they have a literature research course, which requires students to retrieve the latest literature in the research direction they are interested in. Finally, the teacher takes the students' level of literature research and analysis as the examination result of this course. The student searched the abstract of my thesis through the public network, so he wrote to me for the full text. Of course, I was very happy and sent it to him in time. At that time, I was very impressed that literature retrieval courses were arranged for undergraduate teaching in a developing country, and such contents were usually arranged at the graduate stage (generally, there was a large literature review course at the doctoral stage). The second is that the president of Yale University said in the centennial celebration report of Tsinghua University: our undergraduate freshmen are very happy because we arrange them to communicate with our famous professors one hour a week. The president of Harvard University also said that college students should gain more outside the classroom than in the classroom. My son also told me that professors in western public universities must not refuse students' door-to-door communication without reason, otherwise they can appeal to the University.

Two things happened, one in developing countries and the other in developed countries. But what they have in common is the accompanying mechanism and concept for undergraduates and various scientific and reasonable arrangements conducive to the healthy growth of undergraduates. The former is to let students have "close" contact with international academic achievements at the undergraduate stage, and the latter is to let students often communicate with well-known professors, emphasizing the importance of diversified learning outside the university classroom. We can imagine that in such a university environment, will they still be confused? Their extracurricular time is occupied by reading a lot of literature and communicating with professors, and there are a lot of colorful extracurricular activities. Such a college life must be very fulfilling. Therefore, I believe that the school management departments and teachers should be mainly responsible for the confusion of college students. Because, although college students have grown up, they are far from mature and need our careful "adjustment". If we can seriously arrange students' extracurricular activities like classroom teaching, so that they can read in a library with rich books, often listen to reports with a wide range of knowledge, personally design and do some scientific and technological experiments, and experience some meaningful social activities, professors can take the initiative (even passive), When students come to the door, don't refuse) communicate with students. I think the number of confused college students will be greatly reduced.
