It is a waste of time and meaningless to discuss the connection between the paper issued before graduation and the graduation degree. The true proposition should be how to ensure the quality of graduate training.

Scientific research is the exploration of the unknown world and allows failure. Successful thesis writing is certainly gratifying, but failure writing experience is not necessarily meaningless. If you explain the reasons for the failure clearly, it may be more valuable than those follow-up papers.
