Of course, I have also observed a similar phenomenon from the academic aspect: publishing academic achievements is eager for quick success and instant benefit, and there are some short-term behaviors, such as for the title, for the hat, and for the right (to be an official), not daring to put together some immature achievements and publish them, and there are also some chaotic phenomena of signing names that are rarely seen before: multiple co authors, multiple co authors of communication (responsibility), Apply for the results of the award for ranking, for credit, teachers and students for the results at the enemy. The ultimate purpose of these phenomena is for the interests of individuals or small groups.

A few days ago, I wrote in Liu Li's blog: "on the stage of scientific research evaluation: the world's first-class universities look at the paper itself; "Utilitarianism is the bottleneck that hinders the development of universities in our country!" is the comment after "third rate universities look at the influence factor". To this end, a few days ago, I submitted a blog post: "recalling the help of an old scientist 30 years ago", which reproduces our era of pure style of study.

However, if we carefully analyze the formation and evolution process of the utilitarian phenomenon of the current university, it seems not surprising. For this reason, I would like to talk about this topic a little bit. Some people make a mess of the conduct of teachers and students in our national university with the help of the utilitarian exaggeration of professors. The "glorious title" of university professor is derogated as "calling beast"; The relationship between teachers and students is the employer apprentice relationship driven by "employment"; The parallel teachers of the university are waiting everywhere. For this reason, I once wrote a blog post: "all university professors in China must not be parallel products.". We belong to the past. If we don't look at the problem from the perspective of development and evolution, and if we don't find the root of the problem from the social environment, it will seriously hit the enthusiasm of university teachers and students, and will make the current trust crisis society worse. The utilitarian phenomenon of university is never groundless, it is the "response" of social utilitarian behavior. Because today's universities are supposed to be part of society. In this sense, the utilitarian phenomenon in universities is not worth making a fuss.   Half a century ago, when we were in college, the managers "earnestly taught" us: "students should study hard, learn skills, how to go to the society in the future???". It's like a concept of education that strictly separates the University from the society. This phenomenon is the "true portrayal" of the "disconnection" between university management and society at that time. At that time, only 1% of the students of the same age were able to go to university, especially the students of our previous and previous classes. They were just catching up with the country's three-year economic difficulties. The government implemented the eight character policy of "adjusting, consolidating, enriching and improving" and vigorously reduced the scale of all kinds of education. For example, in 1962, a senior high school in our county enrolled 100 students, and I became one percent of that "glory". Therefore, it seems that the college students at that time called themselves "the proud son of heaven" by some means. Of course, it was a little too arrogant and arrogant.

However, thirty years of Hedong and thirty years of Hexi, half a century later, the country and society have undergone "earth shaking" changes. Our present university is no longer the gathering place of "the best of heaven". The university is a part of the "complex" society in both form and connotation. It is impossible for the teachers and students in the besieged university to be independent in the face of the material, utilitarian and impetuous external society. Although there is a huge political and ideological education team with Chinese characteristics in our university, it seems to have little effect, because the education level of the team members themselves is uneven. Just imagine, in the face of the current serious administration of university management and all kinds of utilitarian, impetuous and short-term behavior evaluation and evaluation phenomenon, it is unrealistic to ask university professors to sit at their desks quietly and confidently and study hard.

Therefore, my understanding is that we must "correct ourselves before others". When our university management team can serve teachers and students wholeheartedly, we "practitioners" will regard teaching and educating people, devoting ourselves to scientific research and providing high-quality social services as our bounden duty. Of course, there is always another side to things. I always think that utility is a double-edged sword. Ask who is not utilitarian, but as long as you don't break the bottom line, there is nothing to blame. Because our university is an integral part of modern society. Only when our members of society gradually mature to mutual trust and strong self-discipline, a "colorful" and "positive" look of university teachers and students will surely appear in front of the Chinese people. For this, we should have enough patience.
