This semester to graduate students, early assignments for students, including topics, must read bibliography literature, and provide books and documents and special requirements, so that students can prepare in advance. Students are required to submit ppt one week before class, so as to understand the students' learning preparation and facilitate the discussion in class.

Results nearly two months later, two students who thought the students would read and think seriously submitted PPT, and most of them were not ready. For today's graduate students, I feel that compared with previous students, there is a big gap. Learning attitude and enthusiasm for reading are declining, and the initiative and consciousness of learning are getting lower and lower. Seems to be willing to listen to the teacher, rather than self-study.

Graduate students are different from undergraduates, and their theoretical basis is higher than that of undergraduates. Otherwise, how can the following papers be innovative?

Judging from the two ppts that have been handed in, the content is basically something from the university textbooks, or downloaded from the Internet, instead of carefully reading the original work as required. The cognition of scientific problems is still at the undergraduate level, which is equivalent to review without in-depth study. Postgraduate study should not be satisfied with the previous undergraduate knowledge, but should be down-to-earth read the original, have a deeper understanding of some principles. To be willing to spend time, to stand loneliness, to learn more.

There is a big difference between the present graduate students and the past, and the purpose of postgraduate study is not simple. Their thirst for knowledge seems to have diminished. In the thesis experiment, I am only keen on learning methods and techniques, mastering operation, publishing data and articles as soon as possible, and striving to meet the requirements of graduation as soon as possible. Pragmatism prevails because of neglecting the theoretical basis.

The current situation of graduate students is consistent with the change of tutor team. The problem of graduate students' learning ability is not entirely caused by the graduate students themselves, but by the current situation of tutors and the environment of scientific research. Under the guidance of SCI only, writing articles has become the only criterion for success or failure. More and more basic theories are ignored.

Therefore, I will postpone my class for one month to give the students another chance. I hope they can improve their reading, thinking, logic, speech, review and other abilities through topic preparation. Maybe the students think that I am too demanding, but without a solid foundation, it is impossible to climb the scientific peak, and there is no real innovation. Graduate students should understand that graduate students do not master a certain technology, a few papers is success, and the theoretical basis is more important for future development.
